Booking Terms

Welcome to Huch. Below are the terms and conditions that apply to a booking and stay with Huch, as well as the terms and conditions applicable to the use of our website.

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY.

By accessing, browsing or otherwise using the website, you are creating a binding contract between you and us, and are acknowledging that you have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these terms together with any Pre-Arrival Instructions and Additional House Rules or Cabin Guides provided to you via email or at the cabin

A ‘Huch cabin’ can also mean a ‘Huch camping site’ or ‘Huch glamping site’.

We may make changes to the website or these terms at any time. Any modifications will be effective when the changes are posted on the website. You are expected to check these terms from time to time and take notice of any changes. You understand and agree that your continued access to or use of the website after any posted modification to these terms indicates your acceptance of the modification, even if you did not take the time to read the modification.

General Statement of Caution

Huch Cabins are located on properties that are often very rural, mostly undeveloped plots of land in the bush and wilderness areas. Guests are completely responsible for their own safety and for having basic wilderness survival skills (e.g. do not approach wild animals, do not leave food out, etc.). Huch is not liable for bodily injury (including death) or damage to personal property, including vehicles, due to exposure to inclement weather or rural rugged settings including but not limited to flooding, wind, fallen trees, fire or waterways (creeks, billabongs, ponds, lakes, rivers etc). By booking a Huch cabin, guests recognise and accept this responsibility and affirm they have these general skills.

We do our best to keep all facilities safe and clean, including enhanced cleaning procedures to address COVID-19, however Huch is not liable for illness that may result in whole or in part from the use of our facilities. Guests are expected to observe government health recommendations during their stay (including social distancing) and take other appropriate steps to maintain their health. By booking a Huch cabin, guests recognise and accept that responsibility for their physical health and informing themselves of such protocols is fully their own.

Cancellation Policy

At Huch, we understand that sometimes plans and circumstances change. Changes to your reservation can be made through your Huch account up to 15 days before the day of arrival. Cancellation or change requests less than 15 days before the day of arrival or failing to show may result in forfeit of the non-refundable prepayment equal to the total cost of the reservation (including tax). In the event of cancellation of a fully paid booking, there is a cancellation charge corresponding to the number of days it was made, prior to the day of arrival:

  • Guests must cancel at least 15 days before check-in to receive a full refund less a small processing fee.
  • Guest cancellations that occur 8-14 days prior to check-in will be charged a cancellation fee of 50% of the total booking amount.
  • If a reservation is cancelled on or less than 7 days before check-in, guests will be charged the total cost of the reservation (including tax).
  • Cancellations or changes to reservations that are booked with a gift pack or promotional discount can be made via email or by phone. Reservations made with gift packs or promotional discounts cannot be refunded. If Huch cannot provide the guest with the property that they booked or a property with similar or better characteristics, the guest will be refunded for the total value of the stay (including tax).

Check-in

  • Cabins will be available for check-in at 3:00 PM. Due to the rural nature of the location and the lack of street lighting, it is advisable to arrive before sunset to make access easy and safe.

Check-out

  • Guests should leave the cabin before or at 11:00 AM. Leaving after 11:00 AM without prior authorisation will be penalised as it could mean the cancellation of the next booking due to the cabin not being cleaned in time. If guests need to leave the location at a later time, please contact Huch prior to arrival and ask if this is possible. We try to meet guest requests, but cannot guarantee late checkouts.

Water & hot tubs

Huch cabins are placed on plots of land where water such as streams, lakes and ponds may be present. Huch also provides woodfired hot tubs at its cabin locations.

Guests are completely responsible for their own safety and the safety of their children and for having good swimming skills (e.g. do not enter water or try to swim if you are not an experienced swimmer).

The NSW Swimming Pools Regulation 2018 requires spa pools and hot tubs to be covered and secured by a child resistant structure such as a lid or cover. Huch provide hot tub covers with each hot tub.

Guests must therefore have the hot tub cover fitted securely at all times during their stay when not using the hot tub, if they have children under 10.

NSW regulations require parents to provide constant supervision of children around water to prevent accidents. You must ensure that young children are always within arm's reach and never left unattended. Huch is not liable for guests and their children's bodily injury (including death) due to different types of water settings and bodies including the hot tub. By booking a Huch cabin, guests recognise and accept this responsibility and affirm they have these general skills and will comply with Huch's booking terms and conditions.

Children under 5 are not permitted to use the hot tub.

Adults must supervise children at all times when they are around an uncovered or open hot tub or any water body.

Parents must keep the hot tub covered fitted securely when not in use if they have children under 10

Damages & missing items

Please note that by booking a Huch cabin and accepting these terms, guests agree that they are liable for any damages or missing items caused by themselves or their accompanying party.

We provide high quality furniture and equipment for guests use and we expect the furniture and equipment to be well looked after and left at the cabin when guests leave.

Cleaning

The Huch cabin will be cleaned thoroughly prior to each arrival. Before leaving, the guest is obliged to leave the Huch cabin in good condition, i.e. all waste should be correctly disposed of off-sight and the cabin tidied and dishes cleaned. If not, there will be an additional cleaning charge.

Although we thoroughly clean the cabins before guests arrive, sometimes dust and insects can occasionally make their way into the cabin between stays due to the rural setting of our cabins. If dust or insects are found in the cabin, for example on a window sill, we will not provide a refund. However, we have left cleaning equipment and a tiny vacuum cleaner for guests to use if this type of additional cleaning is required.

Departure

On the day of departure, guests should leave the cabin clean and tidy, and lock the doors after making sure that they have all their personal belongings. Guests are to remove and take all rubbish and recycling with them. If not, you may be subject to an additional cleaning charge or security call-out fee to lock the cabin.

Please note that Huch is not responsible for returning any personal belongings left behind after check-out.

Guests should turn off all lights, electric blankets and air conditioning to avoid using up all the solar power for the next guests.

If a hot tub is provided at your cabin, you do not need to empty it when checking out.

Campfires & fire bans

Campfires are an essential part of enjoying the outdoors. Fire bans occasionally happen at some of our locations. In accordance with government mandates, the use of your fire pit or burning fires of any kind, is not permitted during these events. There are no exceptions to our rescheduling/cancellation policies while active fire bans are in place. By booking a Huch cabin, guests agree to this policy.

Service fees

Bookings may include a nightly service fee, plus applicable tax (“Service Fee”). The Service Fee will be added to the nightly room rate and includes firewood and fire kindling during a stay at a Huch cabin.

Inclement weather

If travel restrictions such as a bush fire or flooding prevent or prohibit travelling to, staying at, or returning from the listing location, the guest will be refunded or credited for the total value of the stay (including tax). This does not include non-binding travel advisories and similar government guidance.

Keep in mind that you may encounter steep driveways/roads, wet weather, curious wildlife, and cellular/connection issues. Huch cabins are offered for rental during the winter months and in the unlikely event that a guest is unable to leave a property on the planned departure date, the guest will not be liable for any additional accommodation charges.  Guests are also reminded to ensure that they and their vehicles are suitably prepared and equipped for driving in the rural conditions likely to be encountered during their visit to the property. Huch personnel do not provide assistance with stuck guest vehicles. Each property is accessible by tow truck. Huch is not responsible for guest towing services.

Preparation for arrival

Guests are expected familiarise themselves with Huch’s policies and cabin guides and get in touch with our team if they have any questions before check-in. We will prepare each cabin for check-in and will be available on the phone to help with arrival. Each confirmation email states contact information for Huch, should guests need it.

Lost & found

We understand things get left behind, however Huch is not responsible for lost or stolen items left on property. It is the guests' responsibility to ensure all personal belongings are collected upon check-out.

Drones

Drones are not allowed on Huch properties.

Campfire, littering, noise pollution & conduct

Safety and ensuring a good experience for all of our guests is important to us. We ask that guests never leave a campfire unattended and to never leave food and/or trash outside as it will attract wild animals. We also ask that guests do not play music outside of their cabins and to avoid yelling or making unnecessary noise. Violations are subject to a $500 charge.

Our cabins are a place to relax and immerse yourself in nature. They are not a place for having a party. Unruly, disruptive and destructive behaviour and criminal activity is prohibited. Guests should be aware that if loud music is played or a party is held they may be immediately removed from the cabin regardless of the time, day or night.

Number & identity of guests

Guests should inform Huch of the number of guests in the booking and their age. Only those persons indicated in the booking made by the client may enter and stay at the cabin. The number of guests using the Huch cabin should not exceed the number assigned to each cabin. No tents are allowed. Violations are subject to a $500 charge per extra adult per night.

Minimum age

All guests staying in the cabin must be 18 years of age or older, unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Guests are required to use a credit card in their own name in order to book a cabin.

No illegal substances or underage drinking are permitted in the Huch cabins or on Huch property.

Pets

We do not allow pets. Violations are subject to a charge of $500.

Internet

Internet services are not provided for the use of Huch guests and phone services may not be available due to the rural location of the cabins.

Smoking

Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes, is not permitted inside the cabins and must be done at a minimum distance of 10metres from all buildings. Litter is not permitted on the land and guests must clean up all cigarette butts. Guest will be fined a fee of $500 for each night that the cabin is unable to be occupied due to smoke fumes etc.

Equipment & facilities provided

All equipment and facilities are provided at the discretion of Huch and every attempt is made to ensure that such equipment is in working order for the duration of the rental period. Should a breakdown or some other situation occur that renders a non-essential element unusable, Huch does not take responsibility for replacing or refunding the guest for the lack of use of these equipment or facilities. The equipment and facilities referred to include (but are not exclusive to) such items as stove, bbq, toilet, shower, lights, air con and hot tub. The guest must report any inoperative or defective equipment to Huch promptly. We will make every reasonable effort to have repairs made as soon as possible. While every attempt will be made to ensure that all the advertised equipment and appliances are in working order at the commencement of a rental period, no reduction of rent, rebate, or refund will be issued for a mechanical failure of any appliances.

Wildlife

Huch cabins are placed on plots of land where wildlife may be present. When booking a cabin, the guest agrees to take appropriate safety measures to prevent negative interactions with wildlife in the area such as snakes. This includes, but is not limited to, not engaging with wild animals, staying away from creeks and waterways, keeping food out of reach, keeping the site clean, and securing all personal items. Ticks, flies, mosquitos, and other insects may also be present at the site – all guests are expected to take necessary steps of precaution against these insects. Guests are also not permitted to harm the land or the natural habitat of any wildlife in any way. Huch is not liable for any personal injury due to wildlife or insects.

Huch booking

A Huch cabin is booked upon receipt of the booking payment. This payment should be made by credit card or paypal through the Huch website. Your booking is not confirmed until Huch receives the payment and you have received the confirmation email. This confirmation email contains booking details, contact details, and other arrival and departure instructions as well as two helpful guides. You must provide copies of two forms of ID before you check-in, usually a drivers licence and passport.

Rules

All guests agree to read and abide by all rules specific to their booking, which may vary by Huch cabin and location. These rules must be read and agreed to before check-in. Huch will also place the rules inside each cabin, accessible to guests. If rules are not abided by, Huch reserves the right to ask guests to leave the property and pay for any necessary damages as a result of the guests’ disregard for these rules.

Newsletter

By booking a Huch cabin, guests also agree to receive our newsletter. Guests may unsubscribe at any time.

Limitation of liability

Huch shall not be responsible for any direct or indirect damages caused to any Huch property as consequence of use. This includes damages, insurance, loss due to fire, theft, and misconduct.

In the event that a guest fails to comply with any terms applicable to their booking and/or stay, Huch reserves the right to ask the guest to leave the cabin and property, and the guest in question shall not be entitled to any form of compensation.
