The Lantern
You'll be staying in an architectually designed space that emmerses you in nature with it's floor to ceiling glass doors on both sides of the cabin leading to a front and rear deck. You'll enjoy a comfortable stay sleeping in a spacious and cosy king bed and there's a pull out double bed for kids. There is a high quality small kitchen with all the cooking equipment and appliances you’d find at home, an integrated gas bbq, a modern bathroom with a hot shower and a normal flushing toilet and a beautiful dining and lounge area that is framed by nature, there's also air conditioning, a woodburner for cosy winter nights, a woodfired hot tub and the dark interior and 360-degree glass walls which are designed to immerse guests in nature.
Enjoy sitting on the front deck watching nature pass you by or relax in a lounge chair on the rear deck and take in the beauty of the sandstone rock while you drift off to sleep listening to the sounds of nature.
"The Lantern sits sensitively and serenely within the landscape. Generous open plan living spaces and two large decks offer panoramic views to the front and back of the cabin, while the thoughtful use of screening and textiles ensures privacy is maintained. All the design elements combine to provide a luxurious, off-grid gently-glowing cabin. As the outside world morphs and changes so does the space inside, enhancing your awareness of and relationship with the elements and wilderness around you." Madeleine Blanchfield
The land surrounding the cabin is yours to explore. From rambles in acres of pristine wilderness to wandering the 1km heritage walk around town, or watching wildlife from one of the two large decks, adventures in nature await. Wollombi Village is also only a short 25min walk away.
Our first three cabins are in Wollombi, a historic village in the Lower Hunter, just 1 hour 45mins from Sydney. Once an important Aboriginal meeting place and a major junction on the convict trail, Wollombi now moves at a much slower pace, with charming family run cafes and restaurants, a country pub, local vineyards and historic 19th- century buildings.
Wollombi Village is an easy 20min walk away, where the locals will share their favourite hidden treasures, or discover a local Aboriginal Cultural Guide Walk through the Yengo National Park or visit a local winery. Laguna Village and the vineyards in the beautiful valley of Broke and the main Hunter Valley are also close by.
Or, simply do nothing but enjoy the views over the Billabong from the wood-fired hot tub.
Madeleine Blanchfield and her studio of architects create spaces that capture the contemporary Australian lifestyle by emphasising the cohesion between interior and exterior worlds, balancing reverence for the natural landscape, quality of spaces and the personal elements that make each house a home.
